The Judicial Training Institute, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, was established on December 14, 1992, pursuant to Cabinet Resolution No. 14 of 1992. In 2008, a branch of the Institute was opened in the University City of Sharjah, by virtue of a grant from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The Institute recognizes its importance in training qualified citizens to assume their roles in the country's courts and prosecution offices. It also undertakes the task of preparing graduates of Sharia and Law faculties for legal positions, in addition to qualifying those transferred from the Public Prosecution to the judiciary and candidates for appointment as judges in the Federal Supreme Court, as determined by the Federal Supreme Judicial Council. The Institute also organizes continuing education courses for members of the judiciary in various legal subjects, as well as specialized training courses to prepare and qualify notaries and judicial assistants. It also holds training courses for government agencies whose work is related to legal and judicial fields, as well as for the private sector. It also focuses on and deepens scientific research in legal and judicial fields related to the Institute's activities, trains members of judicial bodies and their counterparts in Arab and Islamic countries, and other countries, upon their request, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and represents the Ministry of Justice in seminars and conferences held outside the country.
