Service Eligibility Requirements (What You Need to Know)

  • Criminal Record: The applicant must have good conduct and behavior, and must not have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor involving dishonor or breach of trust, unless they have been rehabilitated.
  • Employment Contract: There must be an existing employment contract between the translator and the translation office.
  • Valid Office License: The office must have a valid license with a commercial activity as a translation office if the applicant is the office owner.
  • In accordance with the conditions stipulated in Article (5) of the Decree Law, the following conditions must be met for registering a sign language interpreter:
    1. The interpreter must possess a high level of proficiency in both sign language and spoken language communication.
    2. The interpreter must have an understanding of the deaf community, their characteristics, and culture.
    3. The interpreter must have direct interaction with the deaf, both individuals and groups, in various settings such as clubs and deaf events.
    4. The interpreter must possess diverse skills suitable for different translation scenarios, such as educational, healthcare, legal, and television translation, among others.
  • The applicant must have at least five years of professional experience in translation after graduation, with citizens being exempt from the experience requirement.
  • A copy of the university degree certificate from a recognized university or higher institute in the country in the required translation specialty, duly authenticated and equivalently certified according to applicable regulations. The certificate must be in Arabic; if issued in a foreign language, a certified legal translation into Arabic must be attached.

Requirements and Documents

  • Educational Qualification: Must hold a recognized qualification from an accredited university or institute.
  • Employment Contract: There must be an existing employment contract between the translator and the translation office.
  • Professional Insurance Document: A copy of a professional liability insurance policy valid for 3 years from the date of registration expiration, issued by an authorized insurance company in the country.
  • Experience Certificate: Must have at least five years of practical experience in the field of translation following graduation; citizens are exempt from the experience requirement.
